I spent 2 days and a bit in the Six Mile Lake area of the Muskokas. The winds howled and the rain fell but in the little cottage with glass on three sides of a little little kitchen there was enough light and warmth to get a couple of oil sketches in while the weather sorted itself out. Just the act of painting, getting the brushes going, getting the mixes reflecting the mood of the moment and getting the flat surface to speak is a pleasure.
Thanks to the generosity of the Allan's, its a spot I can return to enjoy again. Familiarity allows for some creative juices to take over once you understand the challenges of a location. Don't be afraid to repeatedly visit a subject...somebody in France painted a lot of hay stacks...
