February White - February Light
February gets a bad rap. It a month of returning to glorious early morning and late afternoon light. We find magenta, and pink, violet, orange, yellows, not dog pee in the snow yellow, but, beautiful warm peach and butter yellows, soft minty greens and innumerable blues. As artists we see these colours and need to punch them up a bit (or a lot) so that others can feel the personality of light expressed as we see it. Recently, I posted on Facebook a winter painting and a respondent noted that I have new glasses. She asked if I remembered that she wanted my old ones so that she could see the colours that way I do. But...they really are there. The largest part of painting for me is still seeing and learning to see better and better.
