new as new is...for me anyway

I don't really know much about what a blog is supposed to be about. But I talk about paint as an artist, paint as a tool to say something about something that you think, at that time, is worth saying. So that's what I'll do here. Hawthorne, the New England painting in the 20's talked about finding beauty in the ordinary.
I had a math teacher as a student for a week learning the fundamentals of oils. At the end of the week she said I'll never be an artist but I know better how to see.
Working on seeing (better), seems to me, is something that should be on everyones "to do" list, don't you think?

  1. Hawthorne is correct about seeing much better as a result of painting.......sometimes we see too well, and can't remember what we want to viewer to see. Don't forget to give the viewer a focal point... or two, but not 10
